Pyroshock Team
Our pyroshock team has been focusing on developing Laser Pyroshock Measurement & Propagation Imager that performs visualization of pyroshock propagation. Currently two major research topics have been studied in this context
Development of non-contact explosive-induced shock measurement system
Development of multi-point simultaneous laser shock sensing system
Pyroshock
Pyroshock is the response of a structure to high frequency (thousands of hertz), high-magnitude stress waves that propagate throughout the structure as a result of an explosive event include rocket stage separation, missile payload deployment, pilot ejection, automobile airbag inflators, etc. The resultant energies are often high g-force and high frequency which can cause problems for electronic components which have small items with resonant frequencies near those induced by the pyroshock.
Research Topics
Our pyroshock research team develops the laser pyroshock measurement & propagation imager. This system is composed of non-contact explosive-induced shock measurement system and multi-point simultaneous laser shock sensing system.
Non-contact explosive-induced shock measurement system was developed for simultaneous multi-point pyroshock measurement. This system can measure the pyroshock shock waves up to 8 channels simultaneously and presented time domain signal of acceleration in real time.
Multi-point simultaneous laser shock sensing system was developed for simulation of point-wise and linear explosive induced pyroshock propagation based on pyroshock reconstruction algorithm using laser-induced shocks. This system can measure the laser-induced shock waves up to 16 channels simultaneously and generated pyroshock wave propagation image finally.
